Shawn Roberson

“There is something relaxing about taking a lump of wet clay and forming something recognizable from it. I get a great deal of pleasure from making a piece of art that can be used as a vase, a cup, etc; art should be so much a part of our everyday lives that we use it at every turn.”

My name is Shawn Roberson and I’m  a full-time accounting and international business professor at King University in Bristol, T.N. I began making pottery as a way to relax after long days of teaching and grading papers. I started out working with clay on the potter’s wheel, but now specialize in hand-built pieces and enjoy using common objects to help mold clay into interesting functio

nal objects.

I teach clay classes at Blue River Studio in Elizabethton (see his classes here). You can also find pieces of my work for sale in the studio.
